New items added to While Supplies Last selection

Just a quick note to let you know that CTMH has added tons of new items to the While Supplies Last section of my online store!  Shop here:  While Supplies Last  or go to my online store at:  www.ctmh.com/dmhaight , click on 'Shop', then scroll down the list on the left side to 'While Supplies Last'.  These items sell out quickly, so I recommend acting fast to get what you want!

The other announcement is that the Value Pack 50-pack of Page Protectors is no longer available.  The page protectors will be re-introduced in a pack of 25 for $19.95 next month.  The good news (I hope) is that I got an order in just under the wire so I will be receiving one 50-pack soon.  I will break this pack up to sell either single pages at $.55 each, or a 5 pack for $2.75.  This price already figures in shipping and tax.  Contact me if you are interested!

Dogs, vet visits, and back injuries

Hello, blog readers!  I apologize for not checking in last week...Life in the Haight household has been a little crazy lately.  One week ago today, we were sure we were going to lose this little guy:
Over the course of four days, he went from an Old-Man creaky walk (he is 15 1/2 years old), to near paralysis.  I'd taken him in to the vet and she thought either it was his hind leg acting up again (he had injured it taking a flying leap off our bed), or possible back problems.  All we knew was that he was in a LOT of pain.  Sunday/night was a really hard time and Monday morning could not arrive fast enough.  Prognosis:  Herniated Disc in his back.  It was pressing on his nerves, causing him to lose function in his hind legs.  Treatment:  Crate rest and a few good drugs.  One problem is that I never crate trained him.  Huge mistake.  So we've had a couple of poo-filled moments, one attempted sponge bath, and a couple of careful baths with the water only getting to those areas that needed washing.  And lots of laundry, cleaning, carpet shampooing and the like.

Husband and I are tag-teaming this job: taking turns sleeping near his crate, with hopes to catch said poo-related incidents before he makes a mess of himself.  Speaking of Hubby, he can totally relate to this condition as he has surgery for a herniated disc 6 years ago!  We've had enough of our share of back conditions in our family already...

All that being said, you can imagine that there has been zero time for crafting or blogging, and we're taking it one day at a time.  I'll be happy if I can get the house decorated for Christmas!  Bear with me as we work thru his rehab, and I'll try to snap a few photos of stuff I've made and get them edited for blogging.  I do have a few cute things to show you and some awesome CTMH campaigns in the works!

Thanks for stopping by...

CTMH Artwork

Hey everyone!  I know I've just been posting a bunch of videos lately (but don'tcha just love those instructional videos?  I think they're great inspiration) so I just went thru my edited photos file and found the last few photos that I don't think I've posted yet.

I've been in a time crunch this week attempting to clean the house and get ready to have a Halloween party on Saturday.  The days just get away from me - I haven't even put any decorations up yet!  But I can proudly say that I've just finished the last of the cleaning.  Well, it's clean enough.  Let's put it that way.

Anyway, here are those photos:
First up, some 3 x 3 cards made with an M -sized stamp set.  You can get these great little stamps for only $2.95 at  www.ctmh.com/dmhaight  I stamped it on white daisy cardstock, then stamped again on patterned paper and fussy - cut the 'You'.  Then I glued the letters on top of the white daisy stamp and ran the whole thing thru my embosser with a Sizzix plate.  Super easy and they turn out so cute!  I always try to tuck in a little thank you note with customer purchases.
Next up, the cards from the Lola cardmaking workshop on the go.  This set is still available thru the end of January 2014, and it comes with everything you need to make 15 cards.
I switched out a few of the 'Cheer Up' card sentiments with a Birthday sentiment instead since I'll probably have more opportunities to send a birthday card.
Next up, my first Artbooking layout.  I made this several months ago, and I may or may not have already posted it!  :-)  I used the Surf's Up papers.  I switched out the sentiment that originally was planned for this layout page in the cartridge handbook, and I added a photo since I didn't have any larger ones on hand.  I think it still worked out well.  And when I actually get to scrapbooking all the photos from that cruise, I'll probably use the complete original layout from the handbook too.  Love how you can mix and match everything to make it work for your photos.

The Surf's Up papers are still available thru the end of January, but some of the papers that will be 'retiring' tend to sell out sooner.  This stuff is really a 'while supplies last' situation right before the next Idea Book comes out.
And last, I designed this card as a project for my upline's last team meeting.  (She'd just moved and all her supplies were still packed up so I was happy to help her out)  This is an overlay that I keyed in as Real Dial Size to re-size it to fit my card.  I did the same with the frame.  I backed it with Huntington paper and used the zip strip at the bottom.  The stamp set is available in the Autumn Idea Book.  I just inked it up with several colors using an ink dauber.  Then I 'huffed' on it to re-moisten the ink before placing my image.

I'll try to take a few photos of stuff I made for the Halloween party and maybe get it posted early next week!  Thanks for stopping by, and if you have any questions, please leave a comment!

Sparkle & Shine Rosette Christmas Trees

Here is a photo of the project we will be making at our next crop on November 2nd:  the Rosette Christmas Trees featured on the front cover of the Holidays from the Heart Gift Guide (which goes live October 15th!)

They turn out super cute!

In order to keep this project free to everyone attending, I'm asking that you bring a few supplies.  This will also cut down on the need to share and will speed up our crafting time.

Scoring tool (a skinny-tipped one works best)
Versamat/Cutting Mat
Ruler
Bonding Memories glue or the EK brand one
Liquid Glass or Alene's Fast-dry glue - we'll need a thick glue that dries rather fast
Prima Glitter or super-fine glitter - 'snow' colored
Glittering tray, or cheap paper plates to catch glitter
Glue dots - small or medium
Red Button or Bling Gem for top of tree - I used one on each side so you might want two

Some crafters have used a Scor-board to scor the strips, but I wasn't crazy about doing it that way. If you have one and want to use it, bring it.  And some people have used hot glue to do the rosettes.  It cuts way down on wait time but if you want to display your tree in a place where sunlight or any heat source will hit it, the glue could loosen and then your tree will fall apart.

Contact me if you have any questions or if you would like more details about attending our crop.

You can start shopping for products from the Holiday book beginning October 15th, please note that many of these items are available While Supplies Last, so if you are interested, please place your order as soon as possible.  Many are sure to sell out quickly!

Thanks for stopping by!

More Artwork

I was scrolling thru my file of edited photos and realized that I'd missed a few.  The supplies used on these cards are now mostly retired products, but I thought I'd post them for you anyway.
This is one of my favorite stamp sets - A Bow wow.  Papers used were from the retired Lucky pack.  I made this card for my dad for Father's Day, but it could also work as a birthday card.
Papers on this one are from the retired constant campaign Dream Pop and I think the stamp set was a stamp of the month
Here is Dream Pop again with the stamp set from the Chantilly card making Workshop on the go.
And here is A Bow Wow again with the Dream Pop papers.

You can buy supplies similar to these at www.ctmh.com/dmhaight and don't forget to JOIN my Mystery Hostess Gathering for a chance to win free products!

Now I'm off to spend some time in my craft room - I need to make a Halloween Banner and some other party items to get ready for our Halloween Party that we'll be having in a couple of weeks. Mwahahaha!

Frosted Christmas Cards

Here are a few Christmas Cards I've been working on...Last year I didn't want to give away the surprise by posting the cards I made before sending them out, but then I don't think I ever got around to posting them at all!  So this year I'm going to go ahead and post.  Each Christmas I make and send about 100 or so Christmas Cards - yes, we are so lucky to have such a large group of family and friends!  I aim to make about 125 cards to be sure I have enough, and I usually start this massive project in August.  This year using the Frosted Cardmaking Workshop on the Go made the project a little easier!  And I like to try a few different designs to switch things up.

First up, I designed this card for the ladies who attended my crop in September.  It features the September Stamp of the Month, and Frosted papers.  I used the Artbooking cartridge to cut the Ruby piece.  It actually cuts as an overlay, and I simply cut each section apart to make the strip.  One overlay cut provided enough for 10 cards.

Next is a card featuring the colors used in the new Sparkle & Shine kit:  Ruby and Juniper.  The stamp set is To You & Yours.  And you might remember the papers from a retired pack called Typeset.

And last, we made this card at our August crop.  It uses a stamp from the Frosted Workshop on the Go (I love that stamp set!) along with the popular Chalkboard technique:  First we embossed the image using White Daisy pigment ink and clear embossing powder.  Then we overstamped the image again using white daisy pigment ink, offsetting the image by just a smidge.  (carefully wipe the excess ink using a paper towel, since it won't really dry where stamped over the embossed portions).  Then draw lines using the chalk marker, and using a sponge with a small amount of pigment ink, dab areas to mimic eraser smudges on a chalkboard.
Then build your card using a Ruby mat, black mat, and Frosted papers.  The twilight base is from a retired pack called Florentine.  Finish off with bakers twine and a button from the Ruby mini medleys.

You can buy the supplies used for these cards at www.ctmh.com/dmhaight and don't forget to 'JOIN' my Mystery Hostess Gathering for a chance to win free products!

Next workshop/crop will be at Sara's house on Saturday November 2nd.  Contact me if you are interesting in joining us!  The day's project will the be Rosette Pinwheel Christmas Trees featured on the cover of the new Holidays from the Heart gift guide.

Sparkle & Shine meets Frosted

I received an assortment of new products from the Holidays from the Heart gift guide on Tuesday and couldn't wait to get started on some projects!  First up, I swapped out the papers and colors in the Frosted cardmaking Workshop on the Go.  This workshop is by far my favorite - the stamp set is SO easy to work into a variety of other projects!

First, I'll show the Frosted set, completed.  This is what you can make from the kit sold here:  www.ctmh.com/dmhaight   For $24.95, you receive the stamp set, and supplies to make 15 cards (5 each of three designs):

Now here is the same workshop with the papers and colors swapped out, using the new Sparkle & Shine pack:

And close-up views of each card:

I used some of the new Sparkle & Shine Washi tape on the last card.

And here is another version of the same workshop, swapping out the ruby and olive colors for twilight and slate (this last design I case'd from the very talented Vicki Wisniuk at wizardshangout.blogspot.com):

As you can see, I sure was able to stretch this workshop far beyond the original 15 cards! Now back to playing with new supplies...

More note pads

I found the design idea for these cute little note pads thru Heidi Swapp's Create to Remember videos.  She has some really creative, easy ideas and I love seeing the cool stuff she comes up with!  I've taken her idea and used CTMH papers:

These are all made with the Dream Pop papers - this packet contains extra thick cardstock that is perfect for this project.  I've also made a few with our B & T papers and they work really well too.

So simple to make:  using a 6 x 4 pad of paper, measure out a long strip of cardstock.  I plan to have about 2" of cardstock to fold over the front, so I'll cut my strip approximately 4" x 8 1/2".  I just fold it over the spine of the paper pad and crease on the back and again at the front along the top of the paper pad.

Then I take a piece of clear plastic paper (I got mine thru Amazon, it is made by Bazill and comes in 12 x 12 sheets. Scrapbook.com also sells it), measured at 6 x 4, and glue it to the inside of the flap of cardstock on front.  I couldn't help myself and just had to use Heidi's clear pop banners, but the rest of the decoration is CTMH.

Decorate the front and you're good to go!  When the pad of paper is used up, just glue another down in its place.

Tips:  dedicate a separate trimmer for cutting heavy weight mediums such as the plastic paper.  This stuff kills your blades quickly!  Your blade will stay sharp enough to trim the plastic, but if you try to trim a regular piece of cardstock after trimming plastic, your paper will end up with a frayed, messy cut.  So either switch out your blades, or do like I do:  keep an older trimmer reserved just for cutting these other mediums.

I use Bazill Marathon runner for adhering the plastic paper.  Seems to be the best adhesive for this particular project.

This size paper pad can be found at Wal Mart.  I haven't seen this size anywhere else, at least in the Denver area.

More projects to come soon!  Thanks for stopping by.

Note Pad Covers

So here is a project I have made multiples of:  Note Pad Covers.  I found the directions on another CTMH rep's blog:  annettescreativejourney.blogspot.com   She gives excellent instructions complete with photos, so I'm not going to reinvent the wheel, I'll just show you the ones I've made:

These note pad covers are completely made from scratch, and when the note pad is empty, you can replace it with a fresh one.  This one is made with Laughing Lola and cardstock stamped with a background stamp.

 They make terrific Hostess Gifts!

This one is made with Sarita papers.  I didn't have any navy blue metal corners, so I inked these with StayzOn.

This one is made with Tommy.  Still figuring out how to do embellishment clusters!  I like the way this one turned out.

And Chantilly.  Should have 'grounded' my embellie cluster with a tag, they seem to disappear into the patterned paper.  Learning from my mistakes!

I made another one yesterday with Huntington but I haven't photographed it yet.  One comment I remember from Annette's post is 'once you make one of these you won't be able to stop' - so true!  They are lots of fun and can be assembled in about an hour.

Some tips:  Supplies are all CTMH except -
Sticky Canvas - I found this online, both Joann.com and Scrapbook.com carry it.
Scor Tape - Only Archiver's carries this stuff (in the Denver area, at least), I've also found it online thru Amazon.
12 x 12 chipboard - I found some nice medium weight chipboard thru Amazon.  A pack of 24 sheets was just under $10
Pentel pens can only be found at WalMart.
Tim Holtz metal corners - found just about everywhere!  I've also used corners from We R Memory Keepers Main Squeeze - I found them online thru Scrapbook.com  You don't need the tool to use the corners, just pound them down with a hammer just like the Holtz ones.

And make sure you have plenty of CTMH Bonding Memories glue and a bone folder!  I've also dedicated an older Fiskars paper cutter to cutting only heavy-weight stuff like chipboard and plastic paper as these mediums do a number on your cutting blades.

More ideas for note pads in my next post!  I think I'm addicted.  Hubby teases me about the quantity of notes I'm always writing, but I swear, if I don't write it down, it's as good as forgotten!

Thanks for stopping by...

More scraps cards

I think this is the last of the batch of scraps cards I have edited and ready to post.  I've been busy making other scrap quilt cards with leftover Pear & Partridge and Winterland papers that were retired last year and the year before.  Same designs as I've posted, so unless I get a request, I probably won't take the time to photograph them for posting...

Here is one with our Lola papers, available now.  I love the bold colors in this paper packet, and just a little bit makes a big impact!  This card was made with four 1 1/4" squares of patterned paper - two squares are cut in half, and two squares of cardstock.  All placed over a square of white daisy.  Then they've been matted and placed on a regular A2 sized card for easy mailing.
And this one is made with Chantilly papers, also still available.

Shop my online store at www.ctmh.com/dmhaight to purchase these paper packs and more.

August's special is with a $50 purchase, you get the Stamp of the Month set for FREE!

This is it for my scraps designs, unless I come up with something new - I still have tons of scraps to use!   I'll post again this week, this time I'll show you some other projects I've completed recently.  Thanks for stopping by!

I'd planned on posting sooner, but got waylaid with a massive migraine.  I'm finally back to the land of the living, though still not 100%.  I ran a few errands this morning and came home exhausted.  Haven't been to the gym for four whole days - anyone who knows me knows that if I skip out on going the gym, I must really be feeling bad.  Stupid migraines.

Anywhoo, I thought I'd post a few more photos of some cards I made using up my scraps.  My craft room workspace still looks pretty much the same as it did in the photo I posted earlier!  I'll be getting it organized in the next day or two so I can pack up for a crop I'm going to next weekend.

Here is one of my favorite designs.  These cards take only one strip of 1" x 8" double sided paper, and basic cardstock.  I've made tons of these star cards in a rainbow of colors.

Lola with the new Rosewood mini medley - these are my favorite from the new Idea Book.
Thought I'd try mixing Lola with Chantilly.  Not sure if I like it, but I do like the greens in this one.  The teal flower in the center is one of our new Base & Bling accessories.  So pretty!
Chantilly with (retired) Lucy

This is (retired) La Belle Vie.  I'm hoarding this stuff to make a few home decor items for my craft room.   Had a few strips of paper leftover from a create & take project we did at a crop. (Will add a sentiment below the star later)

And another one with La Belle Vie.  So pretty!
And this last one is with (retired) Pemberley.  I made 16 of these cards to give to family members at the family reunion.  Inside I included a flash drive of hundreds of family photos that I'd scanned and organized.  I talked about that project a few posts back, I think I'm still recovering from that one!

I have a few more card designs to show you, and then I'll move on to some other projects I've completed over the last few weeks.

Next up for me:  Christmas Cards!  That's always a huge project for me every year, so the earlier I start, the better!

Just a quick note about the next crop:  it will be next Saturday 8/24 at Debbie's house.  Message me for details if you are interested in joining us.  Sara has requested that I teach/review the process of using the 'how to' designs so we'll make a card together using a design from either the Wishes or Originals book - I haven't decided yet.  And I've told anyone who has a tool and is wondering how to use it (I've heard things such as 'I can't remember why I bought this', etc),  feel free to bring it and I'll show you some techniques.

Okay, I've rambled on long enough, thanks for stopping by!
