Book Launch Brunch

Hello!  And welcome to my <virtual> Book Launch!  You won't be able to partake in any of the yummy goodies I made for brunch, you can still see photos of what I showed everyone! 

I held my brunch last Saturday, and I was so happy to have a fun group of gals join me!

We ate some yummy egg bake, fruit and pastries while pouring over the new Annual Inspirations book.  After our tummies were full, we went downstairs to my craft room to look at new projects and to do a few make and takes.  Here is what greeted them:

I set up a table with as many of the new projects as I could cram on there.  Don't worry -  We'll take a closer look at most of them in coming posts.  I just wanted to give you an overview of what the presentation looked like.

Then they turned the corner to find their spot to do some crafting:

I also had several drawings for FREE goodies:

And if you noticed some Avon bags in a pink bucket in the first photo, those are the goodie bags that everyone received.  I'm lucky, because I sell both Avon and CTMH and have access to lots of great stuff for giveaways!

They are super-simple, but do take about 1 1/2 hours to make.  A good project for a crop because you can do lots of talking while making this project :-)

August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

I decided to go in a different direction - rather than making a Halloween-themed project, I used this set for a birthday card.  And of course, I chose our new paper collection, Confetti Wishes.  This happy happy paper features bright colors, including two of our new colors: Thistle and Canary.  And the stamp set is perfect for paper piecing - I stamped the owl image on the diagonal stripe paper, then on the confetti design, cut each piece out and glued.  Then I stamped the party hat and paper-pieced the stripes.  I created a banner by trimming the hat image.  Those pieces were colored using our blending pen.  I created background paper by random stamping 'what a hoot' tone-on-tone in Crystal Blue.  Here is a closer look:

Tour My Craft Room

It has been quite some time since I've posted photos of my craft room.  I've changed a few things and have decided to give you a tour.  I'll be posting photos over the new few weeks to give you a peek into my work space.  Welcome to my world:

 This is where I (sometimes) sit and mostly stand to create my projects.  I set the counters at kitchen-level height since I like to stand and get a better perspective of what I am working on. The higher counters also give me lots of space underneath and larger cabinet space to hold supplies.  I kept the space under my work counter open so I could store my crop bags and cricut machines and an iris case unit.  My puppy likes to curl up into a ball at my feet under there too.  The space between the far wall and my countertop workspace is open, and I use that area to set up banquet tables for crops.

This is the neatest this counter has been for awhile!  When I'm working it looks like an explosion of craft supplies.  But everything does have a home and I like that when I'm done with a project it tidies up quickly.

Looking into the room.  My cricut station sits in the corner there, and I have another bar stool under that counter to sit while I cut lots of stuff on my cricut.  I also have a sewing machine and a bin of supplies tucked under the counter.  I had an electric cord hole cut in the countertop back in that corner so I could set up my sewing machine and string the cord to the foot thru.  It's capped nicely when not in use.  There is also a cable and phone jack in case I ever decide to set up a television.  And I had an electrical outlet installed in the upper cabinet so I could charge devices without crowding the countertop.

I had the cabinets custom-made since scrapbook supplies require deeper cabinets and shelves - the average size kitchen cabinet wouldn't hold 12 x 12 paper.  So I designed my room to hold my stuff.  I'll give you a peek inside these cabinets in a later post.

I love this iris case wall - it holds tons and makes it easy to grab the supplies I keep together for a specific project.  I don't know if you can see it, but a few of these cases are empty - in anticipation of new supplies! 

And my bookcase wall.  Again, I had this bookcase custom made to hold a scrapbook, so they are 16" deep, if I recall correctly.  I was tired of my scrapbooks never being able to fit into a regular book case!  The white cases are full of old scrapbooking magazines, but I'll probably move those guys out to accommodate more scrapbooks as I fill them.

And here's my baby girl, she likes to hang out with me when I work.  Always nice to have company when you're scrapbooking!

Jubilee Reunion

I finished this layout a couple of weeks ago and realized I haven't posted it for you to see:

Hubby and I took a road trip over Memorial Day weekend to Nebraska for our family reunion.   There were SO many people who came!  His mom is one of 10 siblings, so there's always a crowd.  A very cool thing, as my side of the family is rather small.  Definitely overwhelming for me when we first got married, but I love being part of a huge family!

The Jubilee papers are perfect for a Nebraska family reunion.  This is what I've got done so far, and I'll post again when I scrapbook more of the photos I have from that weekend.

I created this layout exactly according to the directions in the kit, with the exception of the number of photos.  Instead of a large photo on the left side of the layout, I used two 4 x 6 photos cut down a smidge to fit.  I swapped out the zip strip on the right side for a portion of b & t print cut directly from the page.  I thought 'fun for the whole family' fit better.  And then I borrowed a friend's Cricut cartridge to cut 'Family Reunion' - I think it was 'A Child's Year', which I also own, but I made this layout at a crop at a friend's house. I like to take Workshops on the Go to the crops I go to because then I know I'll have all the supplies I'll need together, and most of the thinking is done for me - less thinking, more talking!
